Harbor Marineworks owns and operates a new Travelift Model 35BFM that can accommodate vessels up to seventy feet (70′) in length, and up to eighteen feet (18′) beam width and 77,000 lbs maximum weight. Pictured here is a Hoek Design 65′ glass over mahogany construction performance cruiser named Joy, recently hauled for an extensive refit and structural repairs to the bow.

Joy’s journey back to the water begins in the boatyard, where she has spent over a month blocked up for repairs including fresh Awlgrip Hullsides paint and Pettit bottom paint.

Before the Travelift is moved into lifting position, additional straps are connected to accommodate her size and construction type.

The slings are covered with heavy mil waxed paper to protect the fresh hullsides and bottom paint.

When the boat is lifted into position, the support stands are removed and the finishing touches are performed.

At Harbor Marineworks, boats are transported through the Harbor parking lot to and from the boatyard and lift pier. This separation between the boatyard and the ocean insures that the impacts of boat repair are always contained within our facility and never have any environmental impact on our harbor or the ocean.
